Maxus eTerron 9 Electric Pickup Truck Launched in Nepal
Himalaya Motrox Pvt. Ltd., the leading player in Nepal's automotive sector under the esteemed Himalaya Organization, has set a new benchmark with the pioneering launch of the Maxus eTerron 9—Nepal's first premium electric 4WD pickup truck. In a bold move that attests to its capability, the vehicle was launched at Manang, placed at a record-high altitude of 3,519 meters (11,545 ft), becoming Nepal's highest-altitude EV launch. This strategic move not only highlights the eTerron 9's ruggedness for challenging conditions but also emphasizes its credentials as a trailblazer in Nepal's emerging new electric mobility horizon.
Priced at an introductory Rs. 99,99,000 for a low-volume production run, the Maxus eTerron 9 combines cutting-edge technology, off-road capability, and luxury comfort. Designed to conquer Nepal's diverse terrains, from boulder-strewn mountain highways to urban roads, this electric pickup truck is powered by a robust twin-motor setup, delivering 125 kW in the front and 200 kW in the rear for a combined torque of 700 Nm. It arrives in the form of exhilarating acceleration, going from 0 to 100 km/h from a standstill in a fast 5.8 seconds, capped with a top speed of 190 km/h—a first for electric pickups.
The eTerron 9 carries a long-lasting 102.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that prioritizes endurance and efficiency. Thanks to a staggering 560 km range (NEDC cycle) and DC fast charging, which fills the battery from 20% to 80% in just 42 minutes, the truck is meant for long road trips as well as off-road adventures. Its air suspension, which can be electronically adjusted up to 260 mm of ground clearance, allows drivers to dial in performance on snow, mud, sand, or rock.
Step inside, and the eTerron 9 opens up a cabin that rivals luxury SUVs. Two-tone leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions with memory settings promise comfort on every journey, with the dual 12.3-inch screens—the one for the digital cluster and the other for infotainment—equating to a cockpit experience from the future. More luxurious touches include a floating center console with wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, A/C vents at the back, and ambient lighting with customizable options, making every journey a first-class one.
Safety comes first, and the eTerron 9 leads the pack with a Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating complemented by nine airbags (including far-side) and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. 360-degree surround cameras, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) instill confidence on the road, whether in city traffic or treacherous mountain routes.
The launch of the Maxus eTerron 9 in Nepal marks a milestone in the country's shift towards green mobility. Combining luxury, power, and eco-sensitive engineering, this electric pickup is not just a vehicle—it's a statement. For thrill-seekers, green-conscious drivers, and tech-savvy consumers, the eTerron 9 is the face of electric driving in Nepal's future.
