Nepal’s First Off-Road Electric SUV Jaecoo J6 Launching Soon

Jaecoo which has been regarded as a new brand of automobile manufactured by Chery Automobile is spearheading the use of technology and fashionable design to dominate the EV market. The company is especially preparing to make a huge impact by introducing the Jaecoo J6 in Nepal. This electric SUV is supposed to blend exceptional electric power-train technology with off-road construction, making the vehicle as green as any other and ready for any kind of terrain. Performance and Battery

The Jaecoo J6 is designed to carry powerful performance and state-of-the-art battery technologies that will enable it to conquer extreme off-road and urban driving demands. It has an in-built 135 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that can churn out up to peak power of 183.5 PS and a torque of up to 220 Nm. This potent motor steams the J6 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 150 km/h. Performance is further boosted by an all-aluminum frame, which offers weight reduction and improved handling for better agility that is significant for off-road use.

Equipped with a 69.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, the Jaecoo J6 is capable of delivering an impressively long distance of up to 501 kilometers on a single charge, based on the CLTC standard. With this huge battery capacity, long journeys are easily undertaken, and recharging frequency is significantly reduced. The next important thing about the J6 is its charging flexibility: a battery takes around 10 hours to charge from 0% to full when plugged into a 7.2 kW AC charger. When in a hurry, topping up the battery from 30% to 80% with a DC Fast Charger only takes 30 minutes.

Design

Jaecoo J6 offers bold, unique styling that helps it stand apart from the electric SUV segment but arguably takes an even more unique turn regarding off-road capability. Its exterior design is typified with a strong boxy silhouette redolent of classical off-road vehicles like the Land Rover Defender. The front end has a wide, flat grille with a unique pattern and features a central "i" icon, flanked by slim projector headlights that come in intricate LED detailing. It is this combination which gives the J6 a commanding presence on roads.

Jaecoo J6 has quite an angular bumper, with heavy cladding and integrated fog lights that further enhance its off-road credence. From the side profile, it ensures that the shoulder line runs from the front to the back, which further accentuates the sturdy look of the J6. Black wheel arches and hardy cladding come together around 19-inch alloy wheels, while a black roof and two-tone paint job underline its adventurous spirit. The squared-off rear window and the flat tailgate evoke a utilitarian appearance, while it comes with sturdy cladding and integral reflectors on the rear bumper.

The Jaecoo J6 moves into the cabin with the same durability and luxury. It has leatherette upholstery, a huge 15.6-inch infotainment system placed for easy viewing in the center, a 9.2-inch digital instrument display sitting behind a three-spoke steering wheel, and an interior fitted with a 12-speaker Infinity sound system. It fuses functional design with quality materials to provide not only a rugged look for the J6 but also a comfortable and tech-leading driving experience.

Safety Features

The Jaecoo J6 is rich in various safety features; it has an all-around design that works best toward protecting the driver as well as passengers. It has six professionally located airbags-front, side, and curtain airbags-to provide sturdy protection during a collision. This vehicle comes with an Anti-lock Braking System to prevent the wheels from locking up at high speeds and an Electronic Brakeforce Distribution System to ensure perfect distribution of force to every wheel. Interplay between ABS and EBD enables enhanced control over brakes and stability while enhancing vehicle control. Addition of the advanced level 2 driver aid systems takes safety to a different dimension. These driver aid systems make their visual assessment of speed through cameras and sensors that help in the execution of a host of features improvising the passive safety of the vehicle. VSC provides stability during harsh driving conditions by modulating engine power and applying the brakes to individual wheels. The 360-degree camera system on the J6 provides an all-round view of surroundings outside the vehicle, thus allowing safe and secure parking and maneuvering. By Traction Control to avoid the slip of the wheel on slippery surfaces by throttle setting and brake force, even on low tire pressure, it will give a warning to the driver in order to prevent blowouts of the tires. Both front and rear parking sensors indicate both audibly and visually in case of detecting an obstacle in tight space.

Price and Availability

The Jaecoo J6 will be the first off-road-ready electric SUV to enter Nepal and actually be a real SUV, unlike the crossover EVs that usually make their way into the Nepali EV market. The Jaecoo J6 is supposed to come at an approximate price of Rs 70 Lakhs in Nepal. Equipped with advanced technology and super off-road capabilities, it just makes this car worth buying. At that price, the J6 will be pitched as a range leader in the electric SUV segment. The final pricing will be confirmed closer to its launch date, which is expected to be reaffirmed at NADA Auto Show 2024.
